Leather bomber jackets make a highly impactful style statement. And this is the very reason we can now see many celebrities wearing these jackets.

It’s interesting to know that they not only wear them on the big screen but also at various promotional and personal events.

Bomber jackets became popular when they were seen on the big screen in the 1980s. It was well noticed when Harrison Ford wore it in Indiana Jones and then Tom Cruise in Top Gun.

After that, leather bomber jackets became a must-have garment in men’s wardrobes. I personally like Ryan Gosling’s Scorpion Jacket that he wore in the movie Drive.

By the way, these jackets are equally popular among women. As soon as winter approaches, we can see a number of top female celebrities donning bomber jackets.

If you follow celebrities’ style and news, you can easily spot Taylor Swift, the Kardashians, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Sarah Jessica Parker, and many others in bomber jackets.

In my case, I keep a close eye on what celebrities wear jackets of what style. I’m just mad about it. Also, it helps me bring the best content to you guys when it comes to making a fashion statement that grabs all the eyeballs.

Well… At this point, I’d like to thank you for trusting my words and keep coming back to this blog. Let’s get back to the topic.

If you’re new to the world of jackets, let me give a brief definition of what a bomber jacket is. It’s:

  • Outerwear type
  • Short till the waist
  • Contains front pockets
  • Has a matching waistband, cuffs, and a plain collar

Wherever you go in the world, I can assure you that you’ll find people wearing bomber jackets; it just knows no boundaries, cultures, languages, or borders. It’s famous, just like Michael Jackson—a global star.

By the way, we can’t forget MJ’s red bomber leather jacket in his history-breaking music video Thriller

When did it originate?

For the first time, it was made for pilots who took part in World War I. Its purpose was to help pilots deal with the cold, harsh weather conditions. And the aviation board made it a part of the pilot’s uniform.

During World War II, Pilots needed an even better jacket since they had to fly even higher. So, they upgraded the design and material and called the variant B3… and the sheepskin flying jacket was born.

Over time, bomber jackets became popular, and civilians started to wear them as part of their style statement. It was MA-1 that became significantly popular.

Materials

As per your taste, you can find a variety of materials. For most occasions, I prefer leather. But there are other options that include leather, polyester, nylon, cotton and suede.

  • Leather is the most popular choice for all age groups and genders. It’s durable and warm. Rest assured that it fits all occasions.
  • Polyester is a good alternative to leather as it’s also warm and cozy. The interesting thing is that it can be dyed into different colors. Now, it’s obvious that it’s water-resistant and weather-resistant as well.
  • Nylon also offers good durability and warmth, along with a good number of textures.
  • Cotton comes with the stylistic traits of bomber jackets in many colors. And you can wear it in all seasons.
  • Suede is a perfect alternative to leather bomber jackets if you are on a budget. Just like leather, it looks classic and gives off a luxurious vibe.
